Domain Transfer Procedure

Simple Version
1) Log into your account at www.webengin.com.au
2) Click: Manage Domains >> Transfer From Another Registrar and follow the prompts.
3) You will receieve an email requesting you to authorise transfer, follow the authorise prompts.
4) Complete, the transfer may take up to 5 days.
Extended Version
1) Do not inform your current registrar you wish to transfer.
– While your existing registrar has control they are within their rights to slow down a transfer.  This can be done
by holding the release for the maximum period, and more.
– Some registrars, commonly resellers, make it as hard as possible to transfer.  This can be done by not providing
domain management login website/username/password, applying locks to the domain, changing owner details, and more.
Why would a current registrar not allow a transfer?
– The owner can not verify their ownership.
Why would a current registrar seek to make it difficult to transfer?
– Generally, to keep all clients.
2) Login to your Domain Management Website you are transfering from.  If you do not know this please refer to the
‘How to gain access to your Domain Management Website’ procedure below.
a) Review all information and verify all details are yours.  Including;
– Domain Management Website Member Login details
– Registrant details
– Administrative contact details
– Technical Contact details
– Billing Contact details
b) Remove any locks that may be applied to the domain
c) Retrieve Authcode (a password that follows the domain to verify ownership)
3) Login to your Domain Management Website you are transfering to.  In this case Zeumic WebEngin www.webengin.com.au
4) Click: Manage Domains >> Transfer From Another Registrar and follow the prompts
5) Zeumic WebEngin will send an email to the Registrant contact requesting authorisation of the transfer by
verification URL and input authoristaion code.  If not authorised within a five (5) day time frame then the transfer
request will be rejected.
6) The gaining Registrant will need to accept our Service Agreement and will then be prompted to enter their billing
information. The Registrant’s credit card may be charged depending on the type of domain and expiration timing.
Generally domains require an additional year to be purchased paid to the transfered registrar.  This
year are will be charged for 1 year of registration, min require.
How to gain access to your Domain Management Website
Please note; having access to your Domain Management Website is a standard.
1) Contact the company whom you pay your registration fees (your current registrar) and request;
– Website address for the Domain Management Website
– Username
– Password
2) Some registrars, commonly resellers, will ask you why you require these details.  You are not required to give a
reason, this is not a standard, and therefore you should not provide a reason.  Because resellers often work with clients on a personal level they may assume the reason to be for transfer.  If they are allowed to assume this they may take preventative action.  This can be done by not providing domain management login website/username/password, applying locks to the domain, changing owner details, and more.  In this case it may be appropriate to give the following reasons:
– My Accountant requires this to prove ownership.
– My Auditer requires this to prove ownership.
– My Legal Counsel requires this to prove ownership.
Why would a current registrar seek to make it difficult to transfer?
– Generally, to keep all clients.
Why would a current registrar seek to slow an inevitable transfer?
– Generally, to keep all clients.
– Their hope is that you will give up.
– Slowing the process costs the current registrar nothing.  They run the risk of being sued however this is rare.
It is advisable to repeat this step over and over until you are successful.
3) If your current registar will not provide your information then depending on the whois information (the
registreed owner information affixed to the domain) you may have to seek arbitration or seek this information from
the wholesale registrar (if applicable).  At this point it depends on whether you
