DIY website builders such as Wix, Weebly and Web.com are marketed so they look like all in one solutions when this is far from the case.
We strongly recommend against the use of Wix and other similar services for the following reasons:
You do not own the site.
You increase the costs of running a site as there is usually duplication of services and monthly fees designed to increase.
There are no competitive advantages. In fact there are competitive disadvantages as sites cannot tailor to suit.
Not system customisable. Only content customisable.
They are permanently behind in the open source market.
Ultimately for the company to properly grow or sell the company for max value, you would have to convert away from the DIY site in the future.
- Low market share compared to WordPress (60.2%), Wix has (0.3%)
Through analysis, experience and testing we have conlcuded that using DIY website builders is a step backwards for all businesses and simple website operators and instead recommend the use of WordPress.
